VoteVets is a progressive political organization founded in 2006 by Iraq War veteran Jon Soltz, focused on electing veterans of the post-9/11 wars to federal office and on advocating for veterans’ policy issues, national security, and (increasingly) firearm regulation. The organization operates a traditional PAC, an affiliated 501(c)(4) nonprofit, and a super PAC arm.
VoteVets has consistently endorsed Democratic candidates and has been described in major-outlet reporting as closely aligned with congressional Democrats. The group spent over $11 million in the 2016 cycle and over $12 million in 2018; in 2024, VoteVets endorsed and supported a slate of veteran Democratic candidates including Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona, Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, and Congressman Pat Ryan of New York, among many others.
VoteVets is included in this directory as a representative example of a single-demographic-focused super PAC — political operations that focus on mobilizing or representing a specific community (in this case, military veterans and their families) rather than spending across a broad electoral map. Similar groups exist for women candidates (Women Vote), Latino voters (Latino Victory Fund), and others.
